RFID is set to change the way we live, work and are cared for. Wireless-enabled chips will open the way to better care for people in their own homes; more effective management of vehicles, equipment and supplies; and simpler systems for accessing public transport and buildings.
RFID In the Public Sector is the first event in the UK to focus on the impact this technology will have on public sector agencies. Technical specialists will gain much from the day, but the event will also give non-technical managers and executives an introduction to the technology, and an understanding of the issues it raises for delivering services, and managing staff and resources.
The day will include presentations from central government departments, councils, specialist consultancies and academics. Delegates will learn the latest thinking about potential uses of RFID in the public sector, and gain insights into pilot projects and live implementations of the technology. There will also be time to discuss the legal and ethical issues that RFID raises. The event is being held at the National RFID Centre in Bracknell, within easy reach of London.
